Is that a kite in the sky?

Why no, it's our outdoor shed floating free over the West Coast of Michigan!

We've been enthralled by the high winds here at home. Luckily, not bad enough to do any real damage other than some power outages, downed tree limbs, and missing trash cans. But we couldn't help but wonder what things were like on the West Side of the state and Lake Michigan.

Last night's phone call from our next-door neighbor up there let us know. The winds hsve been quite severe. They ripped our metal shed off the foundation and sent it careening away. No damage to our cottage and the rest of the neighbors are fine. But one had a tree fell on his car. A fact that will make his mother-in-law quite happy and set him up for months of "I told you so". She's been nagging him to cut those tree branches for the last couple of years. :)

We'll head up this weekend to take a look and see if anything is salvagable. But it's funny, as the years go by it's easier to just shrug and say it's only things and not get upset as long as those we care about are safe.

I'm so happy you're safe!! Sounds like an *adventure* for sure! Hope the losses aren't that difficult or expensive to replace :)

Thanks, Tame. We were trying to make a list of what we *thought* was in the shed. It became pretty amusing fairly quickly as we scratched our heads a lot. In the end we decided it's a good chance to remove the foundation of the shed and enlarge the garden. :)

Wow, that is a lot of wind! I hope you can salvage something, altho I do agree it is better to have the attitude you have than get all bent over it. It is true, shit happens. I have come to the point in my life where I just don't have the energy to work up a good mad over little things.

Exactly. They call them acts of God for a reason. We were watching the news in some of the states hit hard by the recent tornados. How can we be upset with the shed disappearing? People have lost entire lives and loved ones.

I picture your shed falling on the Wicked Witch of West Michigan...

I wonder what color her socks would be? Heh, now I'm picturing my neighbor's mother-in-law in a pointy hat. Seriously, she is going to rag him forever over this.
